2025 Hungarian Arts Club Scholarship

Purpose: The purpose of The Hungarian Arts Club is to promote and foster artistic talent in students of Hungarian descent in all the Arts.
Amount of Scholarship: The Hungarian Arts Club is offering scholarships to qualified students. The number of scholarships and awarded amounts will vary depending on funding. To earn the scholarship recipients must be enrolled (or planning to enroll once entering college) in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in the Arts.

Notifications and announcements will be made in December, 2025 Scholarships will be awarded at the White Rose Ball, on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 at Lovette Hall (On Greenfield Village Grounds), Dearborn, MI. The winner must be present to collect the scholarship certificate.

Students in grade 12 or high school graduates are to use the scholarships for their college studies in the Arts. If the recipient does not yet attend college, the scholarship is held pending proof of enrollment in an accredited Arts Program by submission of a class schedule. The same proof of enrollment is accepted from students already in college.
Applicant’s Conditions of Eligibility:
1. Provide a complete and online 2025 Application form on or before Sunday December 1st, 2024.

2. Upload (pdf) and mail two (2) signed letters of recommendation from people who can speak about your particular area of the Arts talent and how you demonstrate your expertise.
- The letter should talk specifically about the applicant’s area and the quality the applicant’s work or performance.
- The letter should also include a short, CV-type description of the recommender’s qualifications and how they are qualified to judge your work (“taught/coached students for X years;” “have performed in community theater,” etc.
- The letter should comment on the applicant’s potential for future success in the Arts.
3. Prove you are of Hungarian ancestry and provide a narrative of your personal Hungarian Roots.
4. Demonstrate your talent and ability in the chosen field through a portfolio of work:
- Upload your portfolio showing the work you wish to submit to the Club to be judged along with the completed application — we recommend uploading your video to YouTube, making the video private, and linking the video below for us.
- Your Portfolio’s submission is enhanced if we can observe you in a musical performance where you ard playing an instrument as a soloist.
- If you are in a dance troupe, play or musical, we must be able to identify you, clearly as a soloist to evaluate your individual performance; if you are entering as a choreographer or play's director, you should clearly indicate that in your application.
- You must ensure that pictures of art are not too small for an adequate display of your talent.
- If you choose to submit a physical portfolio, please provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope or another means to return it to you.
5. You must attend the White Rose Ball on February 3rd, 2024 at Lovette Hall (On Greenfield Village Grounds), Dearborn, MI. to receive the award; it has been the practice that winners demonstrate their talent in an appropriate manner:
- Display your art work - 2, 3 paintings appropriately sized and able to be displayed on a tripod.
- Perform a musical number (sing/dance/play your instrument) of about 5 minutes in duration.
